In Worcester County, the Warren and West Brookfield Fire departments responded to a report on Wednesday, Feb. 2, that a dog had fallen through the ice in the river off Route 67 near the Warren town line, fire officials reported.

"Because it was a day time call and the uncertainty of how many firefighters would be in town, Warren Fire was requested also for assistance," the West Brookfield Fire Department reported. "The dog was rescued safely and returned to its owner. We would like to thank Warren Fire Department for your quick response and help today!"

Warren Fire reported that staff members used ice/cold water rescue equipment and shared photos from the rescue on Facebook.
